Self-Portrait Palooza
When I'm super-busy, I pretty much abandon my poor little camera. Now that things have started to settle down, I eased back into this photography thing with a few self-portraits. These are the easiest for me when life is chaotic because I don't have to worry about what the rest of my apartment looks like (it ain't pretty right now). All I have to do is stick my big ol' head in front of the camera and click away : ).
About my hair in these shots: My hair routine doesn't change much, but I like to try new things from time to time, with mixed results. Last week I had a bad experience with a product that left my hair looking like a giant tumbleweed by the end of the week. To compensate for the crazy dryness, I made an extra effort to retain moisture when I washed this week, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. What I did:
1. After washing with DevaCurl No-Poo, I slapped on A LOT of DevaCurl One Condition. After letting it sit for a few minutes, my hair still seemed thirsty, so I left in a lot more conditioner than I normally would.
2. Worked a generous amount of Curls Gel-es'c throughout my whole head.
3. Put a dab of Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Butter through each section before twisting, adding more hair butter to fuzzy bits. (The instructions say this works best on dry hair, but I find it works better on wet hair.)

the pink sweater is very complimentary. i dont use deeva one, but i also find my conditioner works better on wet hair even though the bottle recommends dry hair. glad to see you're back!
Your eyes are haunting! I love them!
Wow, you look beautiful! Your hair is gorgeous and I love your choice of earrings ;)
Your eyes, hair, and spirit make for a beautiful combination!
hey beautiful! i clicked over to buy the shampoo, but they are sold out. dang. i am gonna head over for some of the other products.
you know, i love this post. wink!
hugs
Love the pics, your hair is an inspiration! Where did you get the earrings?
Thanks everyone!
Jasmine, the earrings in the top two photos are from Orno. The gold earrings in the last picture are from Betsy & Iya.
How do you maintain your fro during the week? Do you braid it up at night? Any pic recommendations would be great too! I used to wear my fro out all the time and would just braid it up at night and pic in the morning but I'm looking for a new method. Oh, do you ever blow it out? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for any answers!
Nalena: Letting my hair dry in two-strand twists sets it for pretty much the whole week, so I don't braid or re-twist at night. I just sleep on a satin pillowcase and then pull and shape my fro with my hands to style it the next day.
